dont worry they will be..

the infighting has already started. Just watch Demint-bachman-palin over the next few months..

As they turned on scott brown the second he voted with the democrats on ONE issue you will see litmus test ideologues start to throw wrenches in the works of the grand ol party.

The infighting has been going on since at least 2000. What's your point?

It's a battle between the "old blood" republicans - the washington insider moderates that just want to be loved by the media and hold on to their power, and the contract-with-america/tea-party populists. We'll soon find out which side Boehner is really on.

Regardless of what he is going to do, obviously Republicans aren't getting the "message", putting someone who directly supported one of the biggest things the teaparty was against in the highest seat of power for that party...

If the teapartiers turn out to be just a couple more republicans I will be shocked. SHOCKED!

You really don't know who Boehner is or what he has done over the years, do you? :hmm:

Context is everything except when it isn't used against Democrats right? That was the whole reason behind this post.

He supported TARP, but was against the health care bill IIRC.
You're not gonna get everything you want. Have to pick your battles I guess. I probably rather see someone else in charge at this point, but he definitely is for downsizing the government. He is the current minority leader, so the speaker position is traditionally his now that his party has the majority.

Boehner is an ultra right winger, but he's not quite as irresponsible as his behavior has indicated over the last 2 years. With TARP, when the country was on the line, he manned up and did the right thing over the ideological thing.

Tea Party people don't hate Boehner because he says the right things, and because he is the leader of the Republican Party. Teabaggers are little more than the disaffected extreme base of the Republican party, so it's not exactly shocking that they support its leader.

Let's be clear, there is no one who is FOR downsizing government when Social Security/Medicare/Defense spending are not on the table. All of the money is there, everything else is just a joke.

Yes, I know, thats what he claims anyway, the republicans in general claim they are at this point. I'm waiting to see any actual results. I'm not holding my breath either. Don't get me wrong.

Every thing needs to be in on the table if the government is to be downsized in a significant way.

I know exactly who Boner is. He got his start working for his dad (tough job qualifications there). Then started his own business, probably with the help of dad again, for the last 2-3 decades he's been on the government's teat.

I don't know if I would say that someone who voted for every single one of Bush's expansion of government budgets, every single Iraq war supplemental spending request, NCLB, every defense spending bill, and...

Tell you what, it would be a much shorter list if you could just provide a list of spending/appropriations bills that Boehner DIDN'T vote in favor of while Bush was in the White House.

Don't forget Medicare part D! It cost just as much as Obama's health plan over 10 years, but it wasn't paid for in any way, shape, or form! Now THAT was a trillion dollar government takeover that he could get behind. :)
