Why is....

Because Blizzard has since taken all the servers from D2 and put them towards WOW, while leaving a lone 486 to run each Battle.net realm.

Wouldn't surprise me.

I know Bliz is making a lot of changes/upgrades to battle.net, probably things that would make the system more complicated/slower than it was back in the day when it was a fairly barebone system.

I just registered all my Blizzard games on their new online system, dl'd Diablo 2 and it got to the end 1.5GB later and told me dl failed.

I haven't really gotten around to trying it again.

That sucks, I never had any problems after I registered my games with them when I downloaded them.

I've definitely noticed the lag problem too. They're going to have to increase the server farm when 1.13 comes out. I imagine the D2 bnet population will more than double when it's released.

I'm sure if there weren't all those damn spammers it would be better. Those fuckers piss me off.

Dont be stupid.
I'm sure they've got at least a Celeron 366 on each one.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that back then, people were actually playing, and now half of them are running javascript bots?

It's probably an old Celeron 300A @ 450mhz. Those were great overclockers!

I still have the Celeron 300A and abit BX6 mobo, that was one awesome setup running at 504mhz OC'd. Good memories lol

becuase b.net sucks. temp bans + timeouts can make d2 a little annoying. single player can be more fun if you get a good legit group going.

This will all be fixed when Battle.net becomes pay for play after the release of StarCraft 2. The additional income stream into Blizzard will allow the Celeron 366s powering the Bnet realms to be upgraded to Pentium 3s and finance the cost of Blizzard's personal International Airport.

I swear D2's TCP/IP play 6 years ago was far less laggier than today, despite with my connection and PC being an order of magnitude faster back then.
