Why is Windows 7 so ridiculously slow and buggy when trying to browse shared remote folders over a network? It takes 2 or 3 attempts just to log in without the windows explorer window crashing. It then literally takes my HTPC 3-5 minutes to show the contents of a folder on my office computer. The problem is not with the network connection, once I find the movie I want to play I can stream high-def videos without a hiccup all day long. Windows has been this way as long as I can remember, from 95 all the way to 7. Why does typing in a network address to view a shared folder have to be so difficult?

It works fine for me. Actually it works far better than Windows95, and handles 100+MB/s with ease.

How is your network setup? It sounds like you have something misconfigured.

I have a group of Network folders marked in my favorites. Covers four physically different systems.

If the network/system is up; I have immediate access to the folder contents.

No delays.

It sounds if your network if not properly configured as stated by above poster.
