Why is Verizon so much more expensive?

I think Nextel is the priciest cell phone provider in my area.

T-Mobile seems to offer the best level of service at a reasonable price.

Verizon is in between.

RANT about Verizon phones.

Many of my friends seem to be experiencing feedback from their phones. This basically means that after they speak, they hear their voice repeat in the speaker portion of the phone. IT SUCKS. I've experienced this phenomena as well and it's extremely distracting.

Oh. It already switched over. I bought the phone at around 5pm my old number was going to the new phone by lunch the next day.

as far as t-mobile and cingular goes, you get what you pay for. what good is all those attractive features (early nights, carry-over, 8 trillion minutes) if all you can do with your phone is play 'Snake' because it cant make a phone call?

verizon is behind on paper in the feature category (only a couple color phones, 1 phone with a camera, low amount of minutes), but when you are stuck out in BFE and your friend has a cingular phone that doesnt have service and a verizon phone with a few strong bars, im glad i have that vx4400 in my pocket (above situation mentioned has occured). because of their excellent coverage and reception, thats why they are the best rated cellular service provider. for a few more bucks, im not only paying for excellent service, im paying for peace of mind. gawd i sound like a shill.

Verizon is a CHEAP@$$ company... the reason why Sprint has those cool phones and all the latest tech is because they're willing to take that plunge and take some risks since they need to...

being a big giant behemoth of a company, Verizon can afford to wait until they see a demand... they're much more focused on their bottom line and they know that after all is said and done... they're a phone SERVICE company... not a device retailer. And bitching about not having free roam... considering the coverage of Verizon without roam... who needs roaming?? I had AT&T on TDMA... I'm awaiting the right Verizon phone to switch since I already carry a Sprint from work.

I spoke with a former Verizon and Cingular engineer (who is currently working for AT&T) and he told me that in comparison to the European and Asian GSM towers and technology, the current GSM implementations in the US suck... HARD. He flatly said that Verizon's CDMA implementation was just more advanced & mature than the US GSM networks. All I know is that in north NJ, there are too many places that like GSM coverage. And even in NYC, Verizon still has the best coverage.

Verizon is not a cheap ass company. They are the only company to be in the black and making money. They are investing over 3 billion this year and atleast that much next year to upgrade and maintain the network. The next closet competitor is spending about half as much. Verizon is also kicking ass when it comes to getting new subscribers. They have over 10 million more then the next person.

Verizon also has people porting to them at almost a 3 to 1 on rate. For ever one person leaving them, they have three others coming over from different wireless companies. This in itself says alot about the quality of service.

Look out for two new phones within the next month from Verizon.

oh man i have the same problem , i usually just call the person back.

the only reason i stick with verizon is i get an employee discount from work and all my friends seem to have verizon too.

though they really need to do something with their phones, more selection, just something!
