I don't think he was trying to one-up me. He was theorizing about what produced the double periods in the email message I quoted.

I didn't blame the last one on my phone. My brother (Ichinisan) made that excuse for me and I didn't object. I had used and spelled the word correctly earlier in the thread and did not need to prove anything.

PSST! I wasn't on my phone for that specific post though I had been just prior and I am right now.

Here, I was only pointing out what may have legitimately resulted in one of those double sets of periods so the remaining one could be a simple typo. He was implying that it was more than a typo.

This error is a punctuation fail because the intention was that which was shown in your second example. Your example is also a punctuation fail in a similar way for not distinguishing the quotation marks inside your quoted text by switching to apostrophes or something.

I certainly wasn't trying to one-up my brother as I made no excuses for the man's first set of periods in the message he was quoting.

I think it was a different tech this time. It looks like it was used instead of a colon.

"A colon is two dots?" I can do that! '..' <-- See? A colon. "

Also, "IE" should have been "AKA" in this case.
