Why is this soveit level in Red Alert 1 impossible?!

just bought RA2 today and wanted to finish off RA1 before starting it. I was on the soveit level where the allies infiltrated the base and shutoff some coolants, I had to round up the techs, well just when the level starts it says run for it, except theres no where to run, the engineers were all trapped in a hall way and shot down in the first 2 seconds no matter how slow i put the speed!! aHHHHH

I remember this level, i couldnt get past it either. I got frustrated and gave up a while back, might try it again.
