It's DDR400 with 2-3-2-5 timings. That seems better than value RAM to me.

I can get them for $190 from a friend, is it still not worth it?

Used? Try $150.

$190 isn't much of a good deal when for another $40 you can get a lifetime warranty and all the documentation needed to back it up.

Actually, they're identical to the OCZ Platinum series, except they don't look as good.

It's too bad that most RAM prices are very high today. Maybe we should wait until the prices drop after Dec 25th. It's not a buyer's market now.
I use OCZ, Corsair and Samsung. Reading about G. Skill has me interested. Sure would like to know a good place to get a deal.

So you're saying that prices are rising cause of the pre-xmas season?

No, DDR prices are rising just as fast as DDR2.

Yes, unless this year is magically different than the last 6 or 7.

So, I should put off upgrading to 2GB of RAM for a few months? That really sucks, I wanted to upgrade some time soon, but if it will be $50 cheaper come January then I guess I'll wait...:(

I wouldn't expect DDR prices to go back down. DDR2 definitely will, but my guess is that most people will pay the prices they're asking for DDR, since it's either that, or build a new system with DDR2. And, in case you were wondering, that's very good RAM.
