Story Here
Don't usually post in off topic but I read that article and really need to rant.
So, here we go. In summary
Paragraph 1: The mother shut the kid in the basement to protect him? Because, she was concerned about the dog.
Paragraph 2: Now she ordered him into the basement... So she could go run errands.
Paragraph 3: Mother admits she had worries about the dog. An unfixed male pit bull terrier.
Paragraph 4: Now we get some juicy details. The mother placed a shovel against the door. Locked him in the basement. Never mind if the house caught on fire or something similar. We have to protect him from the pit bull. Of course, "Typical Nicky, he wouldn't listen to me."
Paragraph 5: One sentance, solemn overtone. Nicholas found a way to open the door.
Paragraph 6: Mother then goes back on her statements about being worried about the dog saying the kids got along great and they never saw violent tendencies.
P7: Child as mom found him.
P8: Statement of no charges filed.
P9: Mom says it was just his time to go.
P10: Female dog was shot by cops
P11: Male is in custody but mom wants it put down.
Man this is horribly messed up. So you have a house w/ a basement, a kid, and a dog you think might be violent. You need to run errands. Do you?
A. Take child with you to run errands
B. Lock dog in basement so child can stay home.
C. Take dog with you on errands or put dog outside.
D. Lock child in basement so dog can stay home.
Write down your answer.
Now, same question but with a twist, the child is a known escape artist who will undoubtedly try and free himself from his cell if you put him there. Do you?
A. Take child with you.
B. Instead lock dog in basement so child can have house.
C. Take dog with you or put dog outside.
D. Put child in basement and pry the door shut.
Think carefully, now let's review...
Did you answer D to any of those questions? If you did you're a D-U-M-B-A-S-S and should not reproduce. In the unfortunate event you already have you should proceed to the local orphanage and drop your offspring off so they may be properly cared for....
In all seriousness though what in the bejesus is wrong with this lady. I mean I know she is from San Fran and people there can get a bit cooky but this is ridiculous. Alarm #1 should have gone off at the fact that you have a male pit bull terrier that still has it's balls. It is by and far common knowledge that a balled pit bull is going to be aggressive. Alarm #2 Should have occured when you have a female dog in heat around the male dog. This is also common knowledge as to making the male dog even more prone to violence. ESPECIALLY to somebody who is keeping a breeding pair of pitbulls. She above all should have known that.
So, she needs to run errands. I was 12 11years ago and I doubt I would have wanted to go either. So what does she do? Trap the kid in the basement?!?!?! This admission alone should have her in jail on gross negligence and child endangerment charges. As I said above, what if there was a fire. Or an earthquake as San Fran has been known on occasion to have. Any sort of emergency the kid might have to leave the house. Now he can't because he is barred in the basement.
Why didn't she just put the dog down there? What would have been the problem in that. The kid could have had the run of the house, the dog could have had his bitch in the basement.
So, the kid breaks out. It would have been shocking to hear about a 12year old NOT breaking out of a basement he was locked in. The dog(s) maul the boy to death.
So his mom then says it was his time to go. That is the most disgusting shyte ever. It was his time to go? It should be her time to go right along with him. Gather up a couple starving pits and let them have at her.
Now she wants the male dog put down. Why? So she can destroy the evidence?
Now, I only have the info in this article but this all sounds extremely suspicious. I mean you would have to be stupider than corky from life goes on to actually do all that and not think just one piece of it was the world's most idiotic idea. To me instead it sounds like a well planned out homicide.
Mom misses her party days when she was the bitch in heat. Ever since she had little Nicholas she's just been so shut up in her life as a mom. So, she has this breeding pair of pit bulls. she knows Rex gets territorial when Ella comes in heat.
Now it's time to get rid of Nicky. I'll just hold the dog's food for a couple days or two. Then I'll run some errands and put Nicky in the basement. Barring the door shut hoping, yearning, knowing he will find a way out. When he does the shovel I barred the door with will make a loud noise and starttle the dogs. Of course old Rexy will think someone is coming into his territory causing a ruckus and viola no more Nicky and mom can go back to her good old partying days.
I know that is probably not the way it happened. However, there is no reason why this lady should not spend at least a few years in jail. She is directly responsible for her son's death and all she can say is it was his time? I'm usually all for liberal punishment for crime. In this case though she should get hit with the book and they have not even charged her with one thing.
I am done ranting, but can anyone tell me how to contact the SF DA's office. I think a letter should be written about this one. This lady does not deserve to be out free.
