While driving to a site suddenly a phrase I heard on the radio registered. It was a food commercial for a place serving chicken and their "chickens have been feed a strict vegetarian diet". Didn't catch the name of the place but why is this a thing? Chickens aren't vegetarians. People eating chickens aren't vegetarians. People duped by propaganda?

Yup, a lot of people are duped by it.

The thing is, they are probably afraid of their chickens being fed dead chickens, dead cows or dead pigs. Which I understand. So, strict vegetarian would mean that at least they are not being fed other dead (and possibly disease carrying) animals.

However, the healthiest and best tasting chickens would obviously be those that can scratch in the dirt and eat the grubs and worms that they find, along with whatever else it is that chickens naturally eat.

Yeah, don't want chickens eating other chickens. But I'm pretty ok with eating dead animals generally. Wouldn't want to eat a live animal, in other words.
