Why is this a problem?

I recently bought a PNY Verto 5700 VE 256MB video card as an upgrade to my ATI P.O.S.
I own a Soyo Dragon KT600 Plus mobo, and I'm running Windows XP Pro, with DX 9.0c. The card works great on most games, but on every older-Unreal-engine based game (original Deus Ex, Unreal Tournament, and Unreal), there are problems. When I run the games, a border of a constantly changing color appears on the sides of the screen, and the FPS become very choppy. I'm running the games at 1024x768x32 (same as desktop), and I tried to see if messing around with all my settings would change it, but it doesn't. Please help!

Try using OpenGl rendering on the Unreal engine-based games. I have a problem similar to yours with my setup (66.93 drivers) in D3d, with the additional problem of the game speeding up and slowing down. I can play UT online though using D3d, just not single-player.

I can't even play multiplayer without it being a problem.

Anyways, the OpenGL fixed it, but I'm having gamma issues with the game now. Is there any way I can fix it with D3D?

My last guess would be to try an older set of drivers; the 53.03 ones work well in D3D on my card in my laptop.
