Why is there no looting in Japan?

Give the Western Europeans some credit. They're not going to allow themselves to become enslaved by the wealthy like Americans will. They will still have a middle class long after free market dogmatism has transformed the United States into an impoverished third world country and eliminated the American middle class.

When will this happen? Been hearing about this for decades. Yet we will still have a middle class that lives better than Europe. Hell our poor generally have better accomodations and luxuries than Europes middle class.

Yes, those are all attributes of having a personal honor code that extends to family, community, and country. Having an honor code is often thought of as antiquated to certain people and as such is laughed upon.

When has there ever been a catastrophe where these exact same attributes were not displayed by the people in those regions? One its slap in the face of all other cultures that these people some how have shown some type of god like morals. One we don't know if there was any looting, because everything was destroyed including a good deal of the people. Many parts of this area is so destroyed that looting quite frankly was impossible. Especially in light of the evacuations and the immient threat of death if hanging around. If you think that these people didn't take food and water to survive, you're a bigger fool than I thought. They as a country have done no better or worse than any other country. Honestly I hate to even comment on this, because its quite a stupid side track of the total situation. Having worked at a nuclear plant, this focus is dumb, because if those bad boys have a complete meltdown, that earthquake and tsunami will look like trips to dairy queen.

It happended in Japan a few years ago (in a smaller scale). Google the Kobe earthquake in Japan in 1995. It also happended in Asia a few years ago, google the Indonesia/Thailand tsunami in 2004. Did you see them Asians behave like certain minority group during Katrina?

I wouldn't be surprised if they have more class mobility there than here. In fact, I'm pretty sure that a couple years back The Economist published a piece about a study showing that the U.S. is becoming increasingly stratified and that it has decreasing amounts of class mobility. The U.S. is slowly transforming into two classes--a small class of wealthy and upper class people and a huge lower class. At least in Europe the lower and middle classes look out for themselves and try to reign in the upper classes.
