Why is there all this crap in the bottom of my whiskey?

I left this whiskey here while I drank a beer, but now there is some semi-solid stuff in the bottom of the glass, why does this happen? I have noticed it before... is it because I put ice in it? I should have known not to put ice in scotch.

Can't get a good pic. Had too much whiskey. It's like some white/whiskey-colored solid that has dissolved out of the drink... or the opposite of dissolved.
