I work as a server and there is absolutely no one on this earth that I can't stand more than people who don't tip. I make $2.13 an hour (which really just covers taxes), I don't wait on you for the exercise. What people seem to forget is essentially the tip IS my salary, and when you don't tip then I don't get paid. I wouldn't walk into your place of business and expect you to perform some sort of service for me out of the goodness of your heart and not get paid, so don't expect me to either.

my ass they do.

it's crazy... when I first came over from ireland, I was so used to ordering from the bar, that the server would get upset, as I guess she was afraid of losing tips.

Servers over here can be incredibly lazy though, almost as if a tip is guaranteed. At one restaurant in Toronto, I left a $0.01 tip. The service was atrocious (waiting 40 minutes to take an order for drinks, on a Wednesday?!?!?!), and when we did manage to snag someone, got unbelievable attitude.
