I dunno why they are considered good but they sure are ugly. My cousin drives one because she doesn't like driving sedans and I think it's a colossal waste of money.

Also, I think someone posted a picture here a while back of an H2 that was in a wreck and it looked like the front half was completely demolished....not exactly sturdy for a car that cost $50k.

crumple zones were invented by mercedes, and those cost quite a bit

I understand that the car has crumple zones, but the way I remember the pic it didn't seem like the accident was bad enough to have warranted such a collapse.

so the consensus regarding the Hummer is:

1. the Hummer sucks, a lot

2. it's ugly

3. too expensive

4. a pretty stupid purchasing decision since there are better SUVs out there.

I bet more women drive them than men. Ocassionally the right wheels might hit gravel to pass someone waiting for traffic to clear to turn left. Wait, there is no gravel in the city. NM

They still say its the 2nd most capable vehicle you can buy and drive on the roads with the real hummer being first.

Lots of people get them and drive over rocks and stuff and use them like they are supposed to.

Just seems like lots more get them just to drive to work.

You haven't lived until you've taken an Army issue H1 into water that goes half way up the windshield or hit a 45 degree angled incline at 30mph and slammed back down on the left side as you clear the obstacle. You want a real HMMWV? Go to a DRMO auction and pick one up. I've done things to a HMMWV that most people who purchase them only dream of.

Uh if I recall correctly the picture you are talking about was an accident between a Dodge Ram dualie, forgot the model # but it was a huge as pickup, and a Hummer H2, the two were involved on a headon crash/almost head on crash.

maybe because it is the only "SUV" that looks like it MIGHT be able to survive offroad.

i was gonna say something until i remembered that jeeps aren't SUVs, they're jeeps 🙂

lol

The only 3 vehicles i would ever begin to think about taking offroad are Jeeps, Humemrs, and Land Rovers - thoguh all of them since the 1980's all seem to have interriors that can't take being flooded and such.

What Land Rovers have you been in....all teh defenders wouldnt mind being flooded, the discovery is border line, the range rover is a country gents vehicle and the free lander...well <<Spits>> nuff said.

Last time i saw a Jeep Cherokee off road was at a 'play day' they had.....the half shaft snapped on it and it limped off the course.

I'm not even sure why the Hummer is considered "good", but I drive from home to work to occasionally Best Buy, and like to do so on less than half a tank.

As far as i know it, most Jeep have drain plugs throughout the body in case of water. My Grand Cherokee has many, but the interior and underbody have both been herculined, so i dont care one way or the other.

😀

Seems like its handling the water ok 😛

Not doing very well either

A nice scenic view

This is from some offroading adventure in Alaska that went terribly wrong. Ended up loosing an old Nissan, a Ram, and a Wrangler Rubicon in that river. Craziness

Isuzu Rodeo = can survive offroad. I've got the window creaks and scratch marks on the doors to prove it.

Isuzu = makers of incredible 4-wheel drives ... ranked top of its class once...

I can always count on ATOT for good ol' "I don't like it so it must suck" threads

lol yea survive off road, but can't survive daily driving.

my friends 00 rodeo turn signal stick broke and took the dealership like 3 days to get the part in an fix it.

The Only problem I see is other Car Mfg making other vehicles to compete with the H2,
Its selling well so other may want a pice of that market.
Im going to be pissed if they start some kind of Hummer class of vehicles but what can we do?

The H2 seems to be another monument to yuppie greed and excess, from what I've seen, just like most SUVs. They do have a purpose in this world, but it isn't to serve as a daily driver that never sees any terrain rougher than a pothole.

I see tons of H2s driving around, and a lot of Cayennes lately as well. I'd say that the majority of the time women are driving them.

What about the F-series Canyonero?

WhoTF breaks their turn signal stick ?! You think that's a manufacturing defect? Why do you wonder they don't have those things on hand ? What does this have to do with daily driving ? What makes you think this is an Isuzu-only problem ?

Yup, it was an H2 & a 3500 duallie Ram. They both SHOULD have been destroyed by that.

My dad blew the turbo on his trooper through too much motorway work

that picture with the H2 smashed up was between the H2, 3-4 other cars, and finally smacked into the dualie.

anyways, it's all about prestige. the original hummer was badass. 120k badass. the h2 is a cheap urbanized version of the h1 that is primarily being sold off the rep of the 1st one. SUVs have some of the largest profit margins, i'm sure that there are an extra 10k in profits just for the name.
