The cheapest i've seen it lately is $420!!! that's quite a bit more than the standart GT's (yes, i know it's pre oc'ed and has a lifetime warrenty). Where's the cheapest you've seen it? I wish i could get it for $350-375. Thanks!

Um cheapest 6800GT's are around $380-$390. Good luck finding the BFG for less than even that.

Got mine in-store at Best Buy today for $399.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...84652&type=product

I got the last one that was based on nVidia's reference design. The others in the store were all the newer design with dual fans. The web site has a sold out sign beside them but if you click on "select preferred store availability" you can find out which stores near you have them in stock. They also had plenty of 6800's in the store.

Wow, that 6800GT must have been sitting there for a long time if you got the reference version. Congrats though as the reference version is the preferred version anyways. :)

I hate buying at B&M unless I catch great deal or need it ASAP. Sales tax is evil and should be avoided if at all possible.

However, I did see the BFG GT at either Fry's or Outpost for $350 recently, search Hot Deals

It should be fine, has dual 12V rails but they don't list any of the amperages for the rails on their site. You could try calling their tech support or email them.

Why get BFG?

You can get Leadtek with a better gaming bundle, quieter cooler, and possibly higher overclocking room for $385.

Besides, 20mhz overclock on the core is negligible and that lifetime warranty, what are they chances your videocard will go bed? In 3 years it's going to become so slow, even if it breaks, it'll cost you more to send the videocard away for a replacement by that time (my 8500 costs like $40 now and I got it for $160)

I dunno what you mean by this, during my research the BFG constantly came up cheaper than most of the other GT cards. I bought mine from Outpost.com for $359 ($389 after tax and shipping as I live in WA :( ) You can find it for $399 several places, look for it on pricewatch.com or pricegrabber.com.

As for Leadtek being better I would have to disagree, reviews show the BFG can overclock higher on average (most sites report the BFG hitting ultra core and ram speeds, though they seem to have more luck with the core than with the ram). The Leadtek does have a better gaming bundle and quieter cooling, but due to the louder dual fans and copper sink you can overclock the BFG higher.

If you want proof in writing google BFG 6800GT reviews and Leadtek 6800GT reviews (mis-spellings are to be ignored :) ) and read the reviews for yourself

EDIT** Is the reference cooling that much better? I thought the dual fans with the copper heat pipe was pretty good....

i'm not concerned about gaming bundles. I'll do a bit more research about the powersupply, and if it all comes out good ill have the free farcry from my processor and the free d3 from the video bundle. I'll be occupied for a while!

What's the warranty on the Leadtek?

*** edit I think it's a PNY at CompUSA also***

they have penny shipping even..... sadly I'd have to pay tax, which would be around $25 :( Still not a bad deal....
