It should be illegal to force that kind of grief onto so many people.

i think it should be legal. Have you ever seen someone with some forms of cancer? my father-in-laws good friend has a cancer that effects the bone. he is in constant pain and the doctors have said there is NOTHING they can do. they expect him to live onother year or so. He can bearly get out of bed because the pain is so bad. I think suicide would be a good idea if i was in his shoes.

but just because your girlfriend/boyfriend dumped you is not a reason. everyone gets dumped and you get over it.

So I should continue living even though I don't want to just to be nice to people?

It should also be illegal to not be nice to your family and friends, and buy them gifts that are less expensive than the ones they get for you.

It's your life, you have the right to end it if you want.

you figure death is prob the punishment enough.. but our great lawmakers have deemed attempt to end ones's life unethical, thus should be illegal. so if you try to die, and fail, you'll have to face the consequences of trying to do it.

maybe they actually think that will deter the attempts.. yea i wanna end it all, but because they might slap me on the wrist, and make me seek help, i guess i won't.. Rahight

It should be illegal to threaten yourself, and the punishment should be death. Problem solved.

Very good point.. If someone doesnt want to live any more.. why should they have to? Just so others dont have to 'deal with it' themselves?

Its kinda hard to have a government to protect(rule over) dead people. Now how is it enforcable is another question.

I'd imagine with enough technology in the future, anyone who kills themselves will be put back to life and sentenced to jail..or in Texas maybe the death penalty.

If you want to commit suicide, then obviously you're not all there mentally. You're a danger not only to yourself (obviously) but to others around you.
Actually the majority of people who attempt suicide are not a danger to others b/c the majority choose relatively nonviolent means (OD). Now men on the otherhand, often chose violent means such as single vehicle crash, hanging, and the always popular firearm. Indeed these people are a danger to themselves and others.

Many of these people are mentally intact . . . that's why suicide makes sense to them. It is possible to convince them that suicide is not the answer for the very same reason . . . they are indeed mentally intact. You cannot use the rationale of temporary insanity for bad decisions b/c everyone on the planet would qualify.

A good friend of mine killed himself last year and I assure you that they are not always insane.

I don't think it's illegal, even attempted suicide (I have not heard of anyone recently being locked up for it). Assisting another person in committing suicide is still defined as murder though.
