In one swoop the place disproves the value of communism, anarchy and totalitarian corporatism. In the end a moderate place between all three is the best path for social advancement we’ve ever found on earth.

There's your answer...sub-Saharan Africa is made up of very poor, third-world countries that have nearly zero medical care, terrible water quality and availability, is ruled by maniacal dictators and warlords who don't give two-shits about human life...except their own.

European colonial powers did a number on Africa. Basically, they just carved up the place into colonies, and those colonies became countries after struggles for independence. Thing is, those new countries usually had no real cultural, historical, or linguistic foundations to build a nation on. This was very, very bad because it led to a great many nasty wars & civil wars.

Add to that the fact that the societies that had evolved before the Europeans got there had been systematically eradicated, and what was left was usually a governmental and social structure based on exploitation by the ruling elite. Usually, the colonialists were just replaced by local elites, who just continued on exploiting the people, instead of trying to build societies that actually functioned.

Europe ruined Africa.

Thats not true at all. There were several nations and states in place prior to European arrival. Check out what anthropologist consider necessary for a state or nation to exist.

So basically it has the same history as USA, Canada, Mexico, and all of othe other countries in north and south America. Instead of turning out like USA or Canada, it worked out more like Nicaragua or Haiti.
