why is sprint dsl so expensive?

what supply vs. demand? sprint is a national company that offers dsl service across the country. the price doesn't change based on your location.
so why is sprint dsl still twice as expensive in areas that CAN get verizon or comcast or any other fvcking company's service?

Not so much a case of supply and demand as it is monopoly. Depending on where you live, I'm sure there are many service providers that theoretically COULD give you access to the interwebs. For whatever reason, cable and telephone providers are allowed monopolies over each township and therefore can charge the prices they see fit. It's not effected by the laws of supply and demand at all.
You still don't get it. Something's worth can be determined by how much someone is willing to pay for it, which you do. The only one owned is you. I pay 29 a month for 6 mbps road runner.

It's not necessarily incorrect either. Supply and Demand has something to do with poor pontiflex's problem. Low # of DSL providers (supply) + high demand = higher prices. It's not necessarily a monopoly either. I'm sure other providers could offer something just as easily as Sprint if they wanted to bad enough, but is it worth it to them? Prices are regional when it comes to internet access. Look at Roadrunner, I pay 29 a month, new customers can get it cheaper, while other regions with RR are paying 34.99, 39.99, or 49.99.

if they had different prices for different areas that would be true, but its the same cost across the board. i can go to a large city where i could sprint, verizon, comcast, roadrunner or whatever, and sprint's dsl would still cost twice as much as the other guys.

Why should the offer it for less $$ if people pay for it? Why doesn't Ferrari lower their prices because you can get a faster Corvette for less?
I work for a mid sized ISP (we are in 30 states) I can tell you that areas where we are the only broadband provider do have the highest prices to our customer. There is a reason that sprint requires you to enter your telephone number in order to get information about pricing.
This does happen because it can. You should start up an CLEC company if you are really pissed about it.
We aren't talking about your comapny we are talking about what Sprint does. So you are suggesting that SPRINT'S prices are different depending on area? The reason the box for the phone # is there is just like it says, to check if the service is available.
It's called drawing a parallel, or comparison. If one company does it, then it is quite feasible that others also engage in similar practices. It's not hard to get away with when there is little to no competition in some areas.
That being said, Sprint does have some of the highest prices in other areas. Check out their cell phone plans to see my point.
Also people, quit with the quote pyramids. It only takes a couple of seconds to edit your quotes so that people don't have to re-read every post for the fifth time.
I know what it's called, I think his parallel is wrong and would like to know why he feels that the prices are different. I hope it's not just because his company does it. Pretty weak answer if that is the case.

In any event are you going to provide any validity that the prices are different or just stick by the parallel?
