Why is Spongebob's voice different in the movie?

my kids watch the spongebob show on Nick, so I have grown accustomed to his voice. Now I hear the commercials for the Spongebob movie, and he sounds like his balls (does spongebob have balls??) are in a vise.

What's up with that??

If he does have balls, are they cubes?
 
The voice shouldn't be different; IMDB says they used the same voice actor in the movie and the series.
