At food4less I can get 3 cups of ramen for about a dollar...but at 7 Eleven it's almost $2 for a single one!

You must be new to this planet. Waaay back in the dark days, 7-11 made a name for itself by being open for very extended hours, but not 24 back then. That meant you could get basic food when everything else was closed, and you were charged a premium for that convenience. Coincidentally, the type of store 7-11 is, is generically called a "convenience store". The mainstream competition(in this case, food4less) is now open later than it was back in the dark days, and stores like 7-11 extended their hours to 24 to compete. You're still expected to pay for that convenience.

Besides the convenience, also look at the size of your grocery store and the size of a 7-Eleven. They have less shelf space by a mile so every square inch of shelf space is more valuable. They also can't buy as much product at the same time.

7/11 is always expensive. You shouldn't go there. They really just sell diabeetus, HBP, and hypertension. I wouldn't eat any of that food if I were you.

Convenience stores tend to be more expensive. That price actually doesn't even look that bad though for what is basically a meal if you are in a pinch trying to get something at an odd time when everything else is closed.

We actually used to have a 24h grocery store here and a 24h drug store that also had food items but pretty much everything closes at or before 11 now because of the high crime rate.

7-11, its a great place to meet other like minded laptop gamers due to it being open 24/7 and its supply of Mtn Dew and Hot Cheetos.

No surprise there is a premium on Ramen - they know their target demographic!

When I taught in South Korea, my students would eat dry ramen. Straight from the pouch.

American kids in America do that too.

Guy I knew used to take the cheap Ramen that comes in a pouch, split it in half so it made two "flatbread-like" pieces and make PBJ's with it!

I tried one myself and believe it or not it was pretty tasty! :p

It's fried dough, why not. Crush it, add the dry seasoning and shake. That's popular in Taiwan as well. They developed a snack category based on that in fact.
