Main reason is because sony are assholes and don't want people to use their controllers for anything other than for playstation. Also the xbox wireless dongle isn't bluetooth, which is why it has that huge receiver. I just tape it to the bottom of my desk and ignore the eyesore.

If sony released their drivers it'd be just as easy to setup as the xbox360. Until then you gotta deal with the piece of crap support the playstation controller has via the fan community. I just bought a 360 controller and didn't look back, it's worth it just for the lack of hassle.

which is part of the problem, why should there be additional software? Its giving me hell right now on my mac. I guess its not that bad on the pc, but ive heard many bad things.

every pc component uses drivers. Why would a ps3 controller be any different?

ps3 controller needs actual additional software to hack it into working. The drivers don't exist.

I saw this on sale today, and i was considering buying it to see if it just performs like a normal bluetooth controller. Im guessing ill run into the same problems, but maybe its worth a shot for $15.00 bucks. Actually looks like a decent design.

EDIT: nvm, just read reviews on it, and it looks like a pretty crappy controller. Still windering if a third party controller would do the trick though.
