why is nforce looking like such crap?

well intergrated boards are generally very easy to setup. Plug in the ram, cup and a hard drive and power it up, install all the software and as long as it is stable you are set. :) We can talk about cost of componets but time is also a factor also... :)

If OEM's are really embracing the board, they have it at a much lower cost than the current retail, and the high OEM demand would also explain the high retail price. I hope it succeeds, which could even lower the price of video cards in general due to lower demand (except for the top models, that sell primarily to enthusiasts (=people with too much money to recognize 'value').

Here's an interesting article that explains why nForce performance drops when in dual-channel mode. Looks like it has to do with the DIMMs used...

Long story short: put RAM in slots 1 and 3
