why is my x2 3800 43c when idle?

ok so i have an E6 revsion x2 3800 and these tend to run hotter do they not?

currently @ 2.4ghz @ 1.4 volts

but why are my temps 43c idle and 56c underload?

i have fitted an xp90 with a 92mm panaflo fan on 12v....why so high?

reading threads around here most people are mid 30's idle mid 40's load on stock cooling.

I have checked the heatsink is fitted correctly and reapplied some as5 but its still the same.

any help would be great as i am not to happy having such a high temp in fact its not far from max temp AMD recommends

thanks

What board, what bios? Some boards&bios are known to err on the high side. Personally, I don't get too involved over temps, stability under extended heavy load is my judge of wether the system is running too hot or not. Any overheating component will not remain stable for long IME.

an Epox 9NPA ultra.

Latest bios as of last week

Anandtech gave this mobo a great review and said it was a good clocker hence why i got it.

Well, my X2 has 38-39 on idle. I wouldn't worry about it unless your load temperatures are over 60.

IMHO, epox's bios reporting for X2s is a little screwy, my 9NDA3J says that my x2 is loaded at 67C right now with 1.376vcore and a big typhoon. I'm thinking its more like 57C or even lower, 'cause its still rock soild stable, no Early WUs in F@H.

so why is mine so high then?

lower airflow in your case? higher ambient temps? those are likely the verdicts.

akasa eclipse 62 case
2x 120mm fans
xp 90 with 92mm fan

case temp 29c

so it can't be that

First My 3800+@2550 1.475vcore does 50c load. I never have it idle, so I don;t know that one. What your case ? What rpm does your XP90 fan run at.56C is a little high, but if your case doesn't have good cooling or a little slow on the XP90 fan, or high ambient temp that could do it. You are at 4800+ speed !
