Why is my Windows XP update not working with IE6

Hey guys is there a reason when i go to the windows update page that it give me this message..

"Thank you for your interest in Windows Update

Windows Update is the online extension of Windows that helps you get the most out of your computer.

You must be running a Microsoft Windows operating system in order to use Windows Update."

I mean i am running the Win XP with SP1. and i did update with IE6.0 but now it seem not to work..

are there setting that i messed up with without knowing...or is it activeX???
 
Is this a legit retail version? or are you using the 'FCKGW-..." key? Rumor is they shut that key off for windows update. There are instructions in the KB for fixing such issues as well best to start there if you are using a legit copy.
