Why is my processor so hot....

I see everyon else's processor temp at like 30-35 C idle....but my CPU temp idles around 40C and my system temp is always around 31-32...this is for an AthlonXP 2000+ not overclocked, im using a modded Volcano 7 CPU fan with artic silver 3 as thermal compound and a Tornado 1000 case....can someone explain why my CPU is so hot compared to everyone elses?

We need some more details to determine the specifics of your temp readings.

What motherboard do you have?
What is your system/motherboard temp?
How are you measuring your temps?

remember that every motherboard reads temps differently. And even if you're looking at the same motherboard/heatsink setup, you still have to adjust the readings for different ambient system temps in order to "even up" the comparison.

Man your CPU is only 9 degrees over ambient...sure I've got my Athlon XP 1700+ at 33 idle, but my ambient is 20. So I'm actually 4 degrees hotter than you, which basically means you've got very good cooling.

I have a EPoX EP-8KHA+ motherboard and I'm reading temps from the program MBM 5....my system temp is around 31-32 C always and my CPU temp idles around 40-41 C
