Why is my Optical Mouse Light On when System Is Off ?

Silly question, but I just finished building a new system MSI K8N Neo2, A64 3500+ etc... when my system is powered down the optical mouse light is still on ? what gives ?

i wonder that too...i think it has something to do with the system not turning off power to the USB ports. anyone got an explanation?

Is it wireless? My MX700 stays on but thats because its wireless and is constantly powered by batteries.

Do you turn off the powerbar as well?

on the n7s's there are jumpers right near the ps2 and usb ports that deterimne if they get power while the compy is off. There might be something simailar on yours.

Most mobos can be turned on by various activities - kbd , network, modem etc. These functions wouldn't work unless the various peripherals had at least some power to them - so they are on the standby power line which is on all the time unless you disconnect the power from the wall. If it is a cordless mouse, you should either switch it off or put it in its charging stand when not in use - voila, no more lights.

When your system is powered down, it is not 100% OFF. To get that, you need to connect to a power strip or something with a total on/off switch.

USB connetion? I can charge my USB mouse while it is powered off. But the light is off unless I am charging.

In the past I had problem with the lights on on my non-usb keyboard. I don't know how I finally get rid of the annoying problem (I tweak my stuff all the time so I don't remember sorry).

This is sometimes cause by a bios setting you enable, did you go into power settings & tell it to boot from a mouse click or keyboard key?

I have my system to boot from pressing any key on my keyboard,if i put my mouse on the ps2 port them it stays lit even when the system is powered off. check your settings in bios.
