Why is my keyboard and mouse suddenly stop working?

When I was doing regular tasks during the middle of using PC, they both suddenly stopped working. I have to switch to other USB slots in order to make them work every time. Is it due to the low battery of my motherboard?

What are the specs of your computer, and what are your mouse and keyboard? First guess would be a motherboard/driver bug, but it would help to know the model to check if it's a known issue.

Sometimes mine will quit because of static but I know it because a blue spark will jump off my finger and then the mouse will be dead.
