why is my image on my monitor shaking?

I have an old 1991 monitor downstairs (from some dead company). In 95, the monitor started exhibiting wierd habits. For instance if you turn on the monitor (after it's been shut off for a while), the screen will shake endlessly for about 5 minutes. Once it nears the 5 minute mark, the shaking will slowly die down and eventually comes to a halt.

Then in 96 or 97, some of the color rayguns inside the monitor died. That left my monitor showing everything in the color shade of purple. I still have the monitor plugged into my old AMD K5 200mhz rig (it still displays images fine, it just shakes alot and shows everything in purple.)

Try setting the refresh rate higher and see if it helps. Shakes and flickering are caused by eletromagnetic interferences most often than not usually a fridge compressor or motor or something plugged into the same outlet.

<< a running desk fan anywhere near the monitor will definetly get it to do that. 😉 >>

Yup! It's annoying during the summer...

i bet that's the problem.....my friend's monitor did that, but surprisingly it happened only when the fridge kicked on....also, one of my monitors does that, but only when the mixer is being used. my friend found that by buying a UPS, and hooking his computer and monitor into it, the shaking went away
