Why is my Dell 8100 (P4) so slow?

So, I've got a P3 800MHz at work (running Win 2000 Pro) and it is faster than my Dell 8100 (P4 1.3GHz running Win ME) at home. What do you think could be causing this? I'm sorry I don't have any more info about these systems. But if you could take a stab at it, or if you know some tidbit of info about these procs on these OSes that I am not aware of, I would love you a whole bunch if you could tell me. Thanks!

Well, the P4 1.3ghz should be faster, but not that much. (it's about equal to a P3 1Ghz, and even slower in some areas...)

A few things could make it seem slower:

PC600 RDRAM instead of PC800
5400rpm hard drive instead of 7200 rpm
slow video card
Windows ME;)

I always thought the P4 1.3GHz was slower (in general) than P3 1.0GHz. Anyway, check how much RAM you have in each machine. I'll bet the P3 has more. BTW, ME does suck hardcore (I have the unfortunate distinction of running it at the moment, so I know this firsthand). I turned off system restore, and that helps some

You'll have to define "slow"... What exactly is slow?

Download speed?
Hard disc access?
High resolution gaming?
MPEG decoding?
Boot up times?
etc...

Gonna have to be more specific.
