Why is my debit card gold?

I opened a new checking account with Wells Fargo last week, and they've finally sent me my check card. I was expecting the normal colored one, but it's gold.

I don't see why I should have anything gold. I thought gold was for rich people or something. Maybe it's for poor people.

What's the real reason it's gold? Any differences from the normal debit card, or is this a new thing they've started doing since my parents got their cards way back when?

Because Wells Fargo marketing decided gold was a good color.

Color on cards rarely denotes anything anymore.

with the not so platinum credit limit of $1000 and interest of 23.99

Unless your card is black with a picture of a roman soldier on the front.

See, that's what I was expecting. In one of the many booklets they give you when you open an account, you can find pictures of both cards. They don't explain the difference.

Actually, I think they took a picture of the signature on the back of their card for some reason, and didn't really notice the number indents were there too...

That is, if we're thinking about the same intarweb incident.
