Why is my CPU all of a sudden always at %100 usage?

My computer was running fine earlier today and now all of a sudden my cpu is always at %100 usage; what gives? I'm running win2k. I can still run programs ok but there's always a delay when opening up programs. Thanks for your input.

Use Task Manager to see which process is running your processor at 100%. You can then shutdown that process.

ok i found the process that's taking 99% of my cpu, but when I try to shut it down, I get an access denied message.

Yes, what is the name. It sounds like its installed as a service.. did you just install a new program?

Do you have a firewall on your computer?

It's called ntconsolejava.e, I just installed my tv card, but it was like this before that. Yes I have a firewall.

just rebooted; it's running still.

Just found out that ntconsolejave.e is a cold fusion file. Trying to look for a fix for this.

Hm... In that case I am not sure why that process is eating all your CPU time. This may help in killing it but if it's needed by some program it may not be such a good idea.

The critical question may be "when did you start to notice this happen?" What have you done just before to cause this to happen? I know it's not an easy answer because I can't even remember what settings I played with on my computer last week

Go download a program such as Freespy or something. A window handle spy. Get one which allows you to see the handle of programs that are running in the background. If you do that I can make a program for you that closes the window, or I can tell you how to do it if you prefer.

Go to administrator tools (Sorry, no win2k here, so I cant check directly), and see if it is installed as a service, there you can delete it.

It's a program that cold fusion uses. It's not a virus.
