If you have installed or run now or in the past morpheaus or KaZaH, you are most likely infected with the brilliant trojan virus. It comes as standard equipment on Kazaa.

do a google search for links to brilliant trojan and detection references and tools. Norton sometimes can not detect it.

Also, Klez H virus can do this. serch in folders and files for wink*.* and ifyou got any of that, your in TROUBLE!

No matter what, your PC has serious issues. And if you download music off the net, you deserve what you get if you do not use proper protection. (sounds like STD advice, huh? ;) ).

I had the same problem on my pc last year...i eventually traced it back to after i installed Office XP - Somehow the speech microphone had been turned on in the language bar and was picking up all sounds through my microphone. It was processing all sounds, thereby slowing the pc to a crawl.

Make sure you don't have some rogue app taking up your mem. There was a page with 300 pictures of girls kissing, and I remember it took up quite a bit of memory. I opened up 4 browsers pointing to that page to see what happens, and I got a warning, and the machine was noticeably slower. Make sure you're not doing that....

LMAO! :D

check for viruses, also run msconfig and get rid of any startup programs that are loading that you don't know about, eg spyware. sometimes these just hog up resources unexpectedly.

also note which programs are open whenever it happens, that could also be a clue. newzbin does this on my computer for some reason.
