Why is my AGP 7800 GS completely retarded?

One day, I was just doing regular browsing, when random lines started appearing everywhere and none of my games would run correctly. I ran a bunch of low level tests, and it turned out the memory on my 9800 pro was shot.

No big deal. I got a nice new 7800 GS. I kinda wanted a new video card anyway. So, I get home, rip apart the packaging, plug the thing in, and nothing happens. I just get a black screen. I fool around a little, and I'm able to get my computer to start, but only if I only have the video card, motherboard, and one hard drive plugged in. Anything else, even a fan, and it doesn't start.

So, what do I do? This is my current load out:

BFG AGP 7800 GS
Antec Neo HE 550 Watt Power Supply
Intel 3.2ghz 800mhz front side bus (not dual core)
Abit IC7 MAX-3
3 Hard Drives, one of which is SATA
Creative Platinium ZXS something or another (it's the one with the fron bezel)

Am I screwed? The power supply seems powerful enough. Is something else wrong? HELP!

Which connector might that be? Everything is plugged in correctly as I was running my computer with 9800 for a while. And, thanks for the reply. It's killing me not being able to use this card.

maby the video card is just dead go to a friends house and try it out.

did u plug the connector in at that back of the card the one in this picLOOK

It works when I only have it and one hard drive plugged in. That pic is dead but the molex is in and I can't find any other port.

The molex on the back is the only one.

Sounds like the card might have an issue with it, or maybe it is your power supply. See if you can 'borrow' a friends computer for a little while and do some swaping to test it.

I don't know what your motherboard is like, but when I got my 6600GT I had to connect a separate cable to a molex connector on the motherboard that supplied power to the AGP slot.

Correct me if i am wrong, but that good thing about PCI express is.... You don't ahve to plug in additional power. 😀

Well if you are curious if it is getting power or not - boot up the computer with the case open and see if the fan on the card is moving.

And you don't even get a display when you boot up or does it fail shortly after (like in Windows or something)? Usually the display is the first thing that needs to come up so it sounds like the card could be dead. Probably best idea is to try the card in another system like recommended.
