Why is Max Payne so damn awesome

The series overall, but with a focus on MP2. I think because:

1) The fact that both games have an *exactly* similar style and feel, while still offering improvements in the second.
2) The slow-mo is awesome (unlike FEAR's).
3) You can carry as many weapons as your heart desires.
4) Dual weapons kick ass.
5) Mona Sax is hot.
6) Music is awesome.
7) Story is the best.
8) Comic strip cutscenes is a unique and cool idea.

Anything to add?

And if you don't like Max Payne, why the hell not?

they already ruined, mario, tomb raider (some may argue games suck more than movie), resident evil, house of the dead and doom.

edit: resident evil movies were pretty good IMO.

Its all about the atmosphere. Max Payne is really gritty. Reminds me of Sin City's atmosphere.

Just played it for two hours straight. Most games don't hold my attention that long. It's only because the story's good and it doesn't get boring.

max payne 2 is so great I played through 3 times to see the best ending. the mode where you get more time for every bad guy you kill is fun too.

I know theres an alternate ending, didn't know there was two alternate endings. Overall its the atmosphere like DainBramaged said, I like the comicbook-cut scenes, and especially the narration during cut scenes. It could also be that Max Payne embodies the dark side that many wish to embrace....er.....or not.
