Why is life in prison generally considered a much more desirable punishment by defendants than the death penalty?

Unless you're already old,

wouldn't you rather just spend a couple years on death row,
then be put out of your misery

than the rest of your life in prison ?

It's easy not to be scared of/prefer death when it's not staring you in the face.

I'm not talking about death penalty protesters...

I'm talking about the actual convicts/defendants.

Why do they prefer life in prison?

you can't respawn when they find evidence that you weren't guilty.

Probably the same reason that other inmates get out, realize they have to WORK to have all the pleasantries of living like a king in prison, and commit a crime to get back in so they can just leech off of society.

3 square meals a day, exercise and TV. better than some of them have had. plus the death penalty is so absolut. Once you kill someone, then you cant reverse your actions, where people have gotten released from jail after being wrongly convicted.

I personally support the death penalty and think things should be speeded up when people admit their guilt or are so obviously guilty.

An individual who has committed an unforgivable crime prefers to forestall his inevitable punishment for as long as possible.

The death penalty is pointless and hypocritical. Why kill them? Its like letting them off easy. They'll be in jail anyway. Its not like they will learn their lesson because they will be dead. And obviously murderers arent thinking of the death penalty when they commit the crime, so it definitely doesnt keep crimes lower. And its hypocritical. Just doesnt make sense to me. And of course theres the risk that they didnt do it.

It's a hell of a lot better life than just that.

Are you trolling again, Nik?
No, I was being serious. But I can troll if you want me to, Nate.
Unfortunately, this is true. Our country is full of a bunch of bitches who "claim" to believe in science and evolution like a religion, but actually don't believe a single word of it.

One thing that you're quickly going to learn, fUx0r3d nUbC@k3, is that Vic is one of the best, most well thought-out posters on the forums. If you'd actually stop and look at things objectively once in a while, you might actually, POSSIBLY, understand something he has to say. Maybe.
