Serious Sam was about as mindless as it gets...but damned if it wasn't fun. I remember playing that on dialup in between Q2 CTF Laser Grapple matches.

Why not host your own game? Ask friends, or random people will usually show up quickly to join on any difficulty level.

Its the fact that it requires co-op play to suceed. In other shooter like Counter Strike a single player can (with enough skill) beat the other team single handedly. But in L4D you have to work together.
