There's no ulterior motive there, is there. ;)

I'd go one step further. If there are two equally qualified candidates, it wouldn't bother me if the position swung to a Black or Hispanic.

I agree, nor would it bother me if the position swung to a QUALIFIED white person. That's the key. If I think someone would make a terrible AG, for example, I'm not going to support them just because they are minority. That's silly.

If only there were a simple way to quantify 'qualified' so all the H.R. has to do is sort them in order and go from top to bottom. But let's add another twist. Let's say you have two candidates qualified to be a secretary. One is white and has an Engineering degree (along with the skills to be a good secretary) and the other is a minority with enough skills to be a good secretary. Do you have any preference over who to hire?

Who has placed more minorities in the highest positions of government, President Bush or President Clinton?

Are you admitting Bush is a member of the radical right?

I'm not but the radical left thinks so.

You obviously seem to know a lot about the radical left despite being a right-winged neocon.

Hey, I didn't say it was easy to do, otherwise we'd all have the jobs we're perfect for ;)

In your scenario, I'd hire the minority because hiring overqualified people is a bad idea. I'm pretty sure that's not what you are getting at, but if a better qualified candidate isn't overqualified, I'd support hiring them no matter what race or sex they are.

Who has placed more minorities in position of authority, President Bush or President Clinton?

What's Powell's authority? Carry Bush's lies to the UN? :D

LMAO!! Now it's Rice's turn. Nothing like letting the minorities do your dirty work for you. :)

Umm... no matter what, whether the SoS is white, black, asian, pacific islander, the SoS will do the dirty work for Bush anyways.

So how is it a position of authority? Being in charge of a department that is largely ignored and marginalized by this administration.

That's my point. It's not. So race really doesn't mean anything b/c the SoS will be marginalized

If the black man doesn't fall in line with your world view, you should him down, eh?

in politics, where their ideology has an affect on how I life my life, yes. race/gender shouldn't be a factor.

Like I said, it's all about ideology.

The radical left doesn't give a darn about minorities, it's all about power.

What??? Why is this specific to minorities and the radical left. The radical right also doesn't give a damn about minorities, it's all about power. In fact, the the radical left/right doesn't give a damn about anyone as long as they can hold on to their own power. YOu know what, how bout, all politicians don't give a damn about anyone as long as they get power.
