Why is it that people don't realize how much they need DVR's or Tivo's ??

Even my sister who is almost a Luddite couldn't seem to grasp the concept of the DVR or realize how wonderful they are.
Until she sat down in my place and used it for a day she thought it was something she would never need or use.
Of course, now she swears its the greatest thing since ATM's.

Do people think its too hard to use? Do they think that fast forwarding thru commercials is not worthwhile?

Because I have Netflix, which makes watching TV shows even more enjoyable. Watch whenever, no commercials, watch all of a series at once.

most TV sucks and is not worth watching or saving

If it's really important, I'll make time to watch when it's on

You can do that with a DVR. And if you have a Tivo HD or S3, you can even watch netflix on the tivo. Plus you don't have to wait until the show comes out on DVD, which on some networks means waiting 1.5 years.

because for 15 extra a month i can deal with not having it. i watch 3 hours of tv a week, if i miss it i knkow there will be a replay both later in the week as well as online.

"why don't people realize they watch too much TV?"

Because they don't have a DVR so they don't think much of watching TV for an hour or so before the show they actually want to watch comes on.

I love having a DVR when I'm at my brothers' places. My dad's kind of cheap, so we only recently got an HDTV - and no cable box/DVR. It's cool, but I could live without it. Hulu is really awesome, though.

What good t.v show can't be found online? (legally)

If it is worth watching the major networks play it on the internet.

My monthly service charge for any form of T.V: $0.00

Waste of money IMO.

I barely watch tv as it is, and if I am, I'm multitasking. Commercial breaks give me a small window of opportunity to do things. And I actually like some commercials (but I may be biased since that's my business).

Most tv shows are crap anyway, and what I want to watch I can netflix it.

i have had a DVR for almost 3 years now, first one was with my former cable company that was ok then i recently switch to dish network and the VIP722 DVR. what a difference!!

No HBO or Showtime shows can be viewed online. Nor some shows on cable networks such as Mad Men (which seems to be available online only sporadically).

Not to mention them not being available in 1080 online (AFAIK)

I'm in no rush. A good show will still be good in 1.5 years right?

Edit - I have xbox w/ Live. I also have a DVR but don't record anything other then maybe a few shows on food network or discovery where there really isn't a storyline.

Dead Like Me and Weeds I saw on Netflix Instant Watch.

Lame rant.

I don't own a DVR and don't have much desire for one. I do not watch too terribly much on TV and when I do miss shows I just catch it on Hulu.
