Why is it that only women can wear tall riding boots?

...and men can't? Weren't riding boots once the domain of men? When did it suddenly become a feminine thing?

Old thread revived by spammer.

Seriously? They're form-fitted, thin material, often have a bit of a heel to them, and are just generally impractical.

Be a man, be glad of it - wear practical shoes. Wear boots with a thick body around them, a heavy sole w/shank, maybe a steel/composite toe, and be happy.

what about those dudes from superman

You've been starting a lot of threads recently, OP.

Yeah, I know.

I'll admit it: During Halloween of 2008, I wore my sister's trench coat, riding boots (they had a flat heal, thankfully), and a Muslim woman's headscarf to a costume party. I haven't worn riding boots since then.

But today, traversing through Downtown, every other woman on the street was wearing tall riding boots of some kind.

Fashion boots are completely different than riding boots. Riding boots have an actual purpose, and almost nobody wears them unless they're at a stable.

It became a feminine thing when everyone (at least most people) stopped riding horses, and was never a masculine thing outside of spoiled rich men who rode as a hobby and could afford such things, or cavalry in times of war.

It's now a feminine things as a novelty senseless decoration. Like makeup. There just aren't that many real world applications where one needs the extra chafing resistance of a tall leather boot, unless you're into BSDM quite often.

Women can get away with wearing all kinds of ridiculous, inappropriate things and call them fashion statements. In the end, who cares? If you want to take a gamble on artistic attire then you either strike a win or look like a fool, sort of like any 1st world decision in life.

I just bought myself a nice pair of Ariat Rambler boots off Amazon. They look damn good on me to. It's all about perception and confidence in ones self. Some guys got it some guys don't. I just happen to be one of those guys who has it.
