Two things always have to be shown:

1) Doing the splits in tight tight spandex shorts
2) Jumping roundhouse kick to the guys face

Am I wrong here?

Yep, it's because he's a dancer not a real martial arts expert. Chuck Norris could beat the stuffing out of him without working up a sweat.

ol' Chuck won the World Middleweight Karate Championship seven times before becoming an actor. He don' need no stinking badges to beat down van damme.

:) true! Chuck would lose badly in a fancy-dancing contest, and van Damme had that righteous Joe Dirt mullet too.

Sorry guys. Van Damme could seriously kick the butt of most other peopel in the martial arts industry. He has proven himself in all the various movies he's made. He's made a lot more than Chuck and probably more than Seagal too. That proves he could waste both of them easily. If he wasn't an awesome fighter then no one would put him in movies like that.

hehe. another thing you always see

after his "finishing move" or a heavy blow to his opponent, the shot will change to slow motion, and Van Damme will hold the pose, exert a tendon-popping "AAAAAGHHGHGHHGHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh" while staring off into the distance at some unknown object.

he's a fifth degree bb in shotokan karate. i think he has some idea what he's doing when it comes to martial arts. i've heard he started his career in gay porn movies...i don't know if that true or not but it really wouldn't surprise me.

Well, apart from those two, what else can you expect him to do? That's about it for him.

In an interview, he said his friend ask him to come to america and when he got here.. the guy disconnect his number and disappear. He had to deliver pizza for a while with that accent... it was pretty funny..
