Why is it that everytime there is a girl I like, I get beat to the question?

I've gotten shut down 3 times this school year... I just get to know the girl enough to ask her out, being comfortable with her and BAM! someone else beats me to the punch, three times this has happened to me... what's the deal? am I too slow? all three girls have liked me back... so it's not like there wasn't chemistry.. so what's up with this? help me out....

in my experience, if you feel there's chemistry with someone, you shouldn't hesitate to ask them out. Getting to know someone outside the realm of dating usually traps me in the friend zone, so i make it a practice of jumping the gun and trying to get to know a lady better by taking her out asap.

I'm one of these guys who has like 2 or 3 girls that I'm checking out at once, because this happens to me so frequently... is that bad? is that why they might opt-out of taking chances with me because they think that I like the other girls? not to mention I'm a huge flirt...
