Ah, so you two have a history. In that case I defer to your experience. Perhaps you were justifiably cold.

You could try running in place.
 
I just turned on the heat for the forth time this winter. It hasn't run in so long I can smell the dust burning... eeewww!
 
I believe it is due to, in my area at least, the heat from the sun being absorbed by the snow on the ground and not being used to warm the air. At least the guy on the weather said so.
