Why is it so hot in my dorm room??

The temperature is 28°F outside and my windows have been open for hours. I disabled the wall mounted steam/hot water heater by shutting off the valve at beginning of the term.

Even then, the thermometer will never go below 68°F in the room. If we leave the windows closed, it will hover around 73°F.

Where is all the heat coming from??

Heat rises. You probably live on the 3rd floor or above and in an older dorm.

Put a fan in the window blowing into the room and leave the door open so it can exhaust out to the hall...

I'm not sure where it's coming from, but is 68 (or even 73) degrees considered hot? :Q
