That *is* how trading is done. If you don't have references, and want to sell something to me, you ship first...unless I think I can trust you well enough. If you've ever been burned on a deal (doesn't sound like you have), you might understand.

Sorry, but you are wrong. She isnt trading, she's selling on ebay. You bid, you agree to the rules. no if and or buts.

hehe, it's not difficult for jguarine (GREAT TRADER), who is relatively new to the trading scene but just paid me $500 upfront in an MO for my Paradigm Mon 9s (see sig). I wish all trades could go this easily and smoothly...I'd be selling all sorts of stuff here. 😉

Trust is not a right; it is a *privelege* to be earned and maintained through actions. That is true in all areas of life, and doubly so when money is at stake.

Shipping first is a minor hassle in the grand scheme of things, so just put in your time like everyone else has and it will be over before you know it. And of course make sure that you are shipping to established traders so that you don't get trolled yourself. 🙂

o.k so the moral of all the people who have expressed themselves here is that if u are first time seller, u be the scrapegoat.

. once u have 60+heatware people would feel comfortable buying /selling to u. THe only problem in this thing is i dont have any intention to become a powerselller on ebay or anywhere.i am selling my camera cause we need money now. i dont want to go through the hassle of going through ebay for this. in future i may buy things froim this board/anywhere else if i need them . but do have to necessarily sell $5....$2... stuff enough so that somebody would buy a $100 camera from me and would feel comfortable enough paying 1/2 first.

Start by spending a little time on your posts to make them look good and devoid of spelling errors and slang. If you make a professional looking page, people believe you are more likely to know what you are doing. Just like ads you see in a newspaper or magazine. Perception is reality. BTW, I would never ship without receiving payment first. I recently bought a very expensive item on ebay ($1800) and had the seller send me the actual owners manual prior to my payment as proof he had the thing. You could also just offer to take a few extra pictures of the item to show the buyer you really do have it.

i usually pay first even if i have more refs then the other guy. unless, of course, it is a bigger ticket item (which i would say something over $20). usually, if the person whom u r selling to has a ton of heatware, it's pretty safe to ship first to them. think about it... why would someone risk their reputation over one measely transaction... unless u r selling them a car or something of GREAT value. trading a good reputation for a $40 cpu or $80 hd kinda doesn't make sense. if u r so worried, u r not required to ship first, nor deal with that person. i bet u didn't know the solution was that simple 😛

Geez, could you be any more melodramatic? It's nothing personal on our part, just good business sense. Look, you have two options here: either (1) hold out until someone agrees to pay first, or (2) ship first to someone with plenty of heat (it may not be a 100% safe strategy but it's as close as you'll get when it comes to internet trading). Either way I don't see what the big problem is, and why you feel the need to complain about it. Just make your decision and stick to it.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm hardly a newb anymore but as a gesture of respect I still offer to ship first to those with significantly more heat than me, and I have yet to be screwed over by any established trader here at AT. In fact, the only troll I *have* run across was a newb just like you. So you wonder why established traders don't pay first? That's why--thieves have ruined it for all of us.
