Gnote,

Incredibly well spoken... You ask the question why Christians are so uncomfortable accepting Jesus as Black?...

Easy answer... because there is still an underlying racism that exists in our society. It's a reality, and only time and education can cure this.

Myself... I don't give 2 zhits about what race Jesus was.... I don't believe Jesus was any more significant than any other normal human being... whether he be black white blue green or red is no concern at all. All tho the concerns of others towards him is of interest because of the trends it indicates in our society.

Ethnicly Jesus was a jew... what color his skin was is of no consequence as skin color means nothing... Race does not exist only nationalism, and cultural identity.

my theory is that alot of the western culture is white, and racism is quite common, i find this thread quite interesting, but i really dont care if he was white, black, yellow, orange, or blue.

If the Shroud of Tourin still has Jesus' DNA, do you think we can clone him?

Are you guys saying that Gnote is a racist in denial?

a lot of Jews live in Israel are they black? Jews have lived there for thousands of years, they weren't black. There's a lot of arabs that aren't black too. Sure they may have a little darker skin than say Stan Gustavson from Fargo, but they are not of the negroid body structure.

Even though I have a rather high tolerance for stupidity and incompetence, your worthless spelling and grammar bother me quite a bit more than anything you are trying to get across (Christians are bigots?)

There is NO proof that Jesus was black! The only racism involved is from some black people trying to press the myth of "black superiority" on the rest of the world. There are NO races - just ONE, the HUMAN race. We are all EQUAL according to the Bible (which has been TWISTED to support racial superiority).

The Bible teaches Jesus was a Jew (Hebrew) decended from the line of King David. It'd be pretty strange to have a black boy in with his Jewish brothers and sisters.

I like to see the argument that Jesus was black. It is not a reasonable one from what I have seen.

As to "Christians not accepting Jesus as Black" - why not? - IF it was true. His Father is a Spirit - what color is that?

Now this is a funny thread. Believers and non-believers arguing over the color of Jesus. The only color any of you should be concerned with, is red. The color of his blood. To the believers I say this is the color that has saved you and ulitmately will grant you eternal life. And to the non-believers, I say this color is what will ultimately condemn you to eternal damnation you because you have believed not. In the end all your belief or denial will be what you stand on. But one thing I am sure of without a shadow of doubt, when the sky cracks open and when Jesus returns, believers and non-believers will answer to him none the less. Thats if you don't die before then. If that happens you'll know the truth before anyone else.

John 3:16-18
16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

"His Father is a Spirit - what color is that?"

spirits usually come in 2 colors, red and white.

Look, I don't think Gnote's big argument is whether or not Jesus was black. In fact, I think he screwed himself over by trying to prove it through bible quotes and archaeoligical findings.

What he's trying to say is that when he introduces the possibility, people seem to disregard it--at least consciously--and continue to assume that he was Caucasian as a fact.

What the title of this thread really should be is Why is it so difficult for Christians to accept that Jesus was Black if in fact he were?

I think that's what we should keep our discussions to...Gnote made a mistake and brought on himself a whole lot of unnecessary thread-crapping by trying to argue two things at once.

And now, it's time for my answer to my own question. The reason is that religion is one of those things you accept as much as you would anything concrete. If someone came up to you and said that Jesus were black, it would vex you as much as if someone told you your belief in something concrete were wrong: i.e. the sky is pink, dogs have 10 legs.

And that's just my CAN$0.02

<< ...Gnote made a mistake and brought on himself a whole lot of unnecessary thread-crapping by trying to argue two things at once. >>

No mistake . . . there are many black racists who insist Jesus was black in spite of all the evidence to the contrary. These are the same people who argue the black man is the original man and is superior to the white man.

I am against ALL racism. It makee no difference to me at all what the color of Jesus' or any man's skin is.

I am against propaganda and lies to further ones own beliefds of one (any) races superiority over another. The fact of the matter - from the ONLY historical document that covers it - is that Jesus was a Jew.

<< Netopia, who died and made you moderator? >>

No one. Is it against the law to tell someone that you find something offensive or wrong and ask them to remove it? Or... is it only wrong if it is a Christian speaking about things that are sacred to him?

EDIT: My beliefs on jesus may be offending so I edited em out...

Thats honestly what I believe.... but like bomberman pointed out... this discussion isnt about the color of Jesus it's about white america's paranoid, panic attack at the idea of Jesus being black.

The answer to.... "you know Jesus was black".... should be... "oh really?.... so?" instead as Gnote pointed out often the answer.. is a panicked uncomfotable "nu uh"....

It's a definite indicator of residual racism.

well, the tone of your message was more along the lines of giving an order than kindly asking for something to be removed? And you are not in a position to give orders.

I can't agree with you. The only authority Christians have in this matter is the Bible. I can't "compromise" when I know something to be otherwise.

My answer would rightly be, "No, Jesus was not black. He was Jewish." I would go on to show from the Bible what Jesus ancestry was.

If I was speaking to a black superiority activist, I would likely be told the Bible was written by white men (which it was not - they were Oriental - Jewish to be specific) and twisted. I would then disagree saying, if the Bible is truly God's work, He would see to it that his message remained pure. And so on.

But I could never agree with "oh really?.... so?" any more than you could argue George Bush is really black and a media conspiracy prevents us from knowing the truth.

What?! You mean there are no Black Jews?!?!.... migod.... being a Jew myself... and knowing many black jews.... what am I to tell them?... are they not black or not jewish?

apoppin:

You are missing the real point of this thread - it was supposed to prove that all Christians are racists who believe that Jesus was a white person, and that if you challenge them they crumble. This all then proves that Chrisitanity is wrong.
😉

Again, I'd like to know why all the Christians I know, including myself, seem to think he was Jewish and dark/olive skinned, not white. Because all Christians think he is white and they loose thier faith when challenged on that point - so we must be missing something over here... right?
