We use this to our advantage. I went car shopping when my sister needed a new one. Everyone assumed we were a couple and I only introduced myself by my first name. When the salesman finally figured out we were related his mood soured considerably since I was there basically to stop impulse buying.

To echo what some other have said here, it can be a bit awkward since a lot of people will assume that a guy and a girl around the same age are in a relashionship (which I guess, stricly speaking, is true).

I used to get hung up on this, but now I don't give a shit and hang out with my sister whenever she's in town.
