Did anyone else just have a bout of cognitive dissonance?

Um, because "standing" and "riding" aren't opposites - "standing" and "sitting" are. Riding refers to the fact that you're ON something else that is moving (e.g. "I rode the train to Dallas"; "I rode my bike to work"; "I rode a roller coaster"). This is the stupidest question I ever heard - "riding" has nothing to do with whether you are sitting or standing - you can be sitting or standing on the train and you're still riding the train. You can be sitting on the horse or standing on its back, and you're still riding the horse.

It's too bad you can't mark posts as answers in OT.
