Hey i got IE 6.0 with sp1 and XP w/ sp1.. I go to sites like www.bmwusa.com but they dont display things correctly at all..
and if i go to www.lexus.com they say that i have Netscape 4.0 installed WTF... and then it recommends that i have at least Netscape 5.0 or IE 5.0.

ooh also it sometime give me a java exception..

anyone have this problem and fix for it??

TIA

You may have a corrupted SP1 installation.

I installed SP1 on my XP Pro system and it was a perfect install. XP Pro started running faster and smoother. If it works that well on my XP Pro it should run just as well on your XP system. Unless you may have a compatibility issue?

If you have Java disabled or not fully enabled you could get an error message in the lower left side but the web pages usully load OK.

I do not over clock but have heard XP does not like over clocking. You could check that out with others on Anandtech.

For you to get a Netscape message maybe you still have something in XP's registry pointing to NS.

"You might have to go to Suns site and download the Java update for XP. Fixed mine."

aaah it would be nice if u can tell me what exactly i should be looking for... with a link mabey 😉

cause i do have the latest JVM installed on my computer..is that what u mean???

TIA

You may have corrupted something. SP1 for XP includes SP1 for IE6, and then if you install SP1 foe IE6 separately, that could be causing a problem. Just a thought.

Yeah i dont know what i did or installed that messed up my system... i mean even time there's flash it does the same also. tell me to get the flash plugin and then on some other sites flash work fine.

this is such a weird problem...i think the obvious fix to this problem would be to uninstall IE and install it again..but since it is so integerated into XP do u think it's possible or even recommended???

TIA

it should let you do a repair install . go to add\remove start to uninstall it and i think it will give you the option to repair.
good luck
