Why is hell a cuss word in school?

Thats so stupid. If i say "Dude what the hell?" Teachers turn around and look at me. Still this is high school so no one really cares. I should be allowed to say "What the hell?" if a teacher says something stupid or bogus.

Your teachers actually care? I had a teacher ask me what the ****** Im doing on my math homework (it was amusing, as he meant it jokingly). Guess some teachers can be a little strict.

PS: Cussing should be allowed, but only in joking matters. It destroys the seriousness of an arguement.

It's about as mild as you can get. It's because of the way it's used. But then, where do you draw the line? There's really no difference between saying darn or damn, the meaning is the same. I tell my damn wife that all the time.

My art teacher is awesome. He lets us listen to music in class, eat and when someone cusses even if we're cussing each other out, he pretends he doesn't hear it. He says damn from time to time too. Great guy.

Simple... hell is a reference to Christianity, and you sure as, well, hell can't talk about Christianity in public school
