Why is Guinness Draught so much cheaper in bottles than cans ?

deftron

Lifer
A 4 pack of guinness Draught in cans is usually like 6 to $7
An 8 pack of cans is usually $12

A 12 pack of bottles is $10

The cans have about 15oz
Bottles have close to 11oz

8x15 = 120oz for $12

12x11 = 132oz for $10

I think the bottles actually taste better ... little creamier like a real draught.
Seems the rocket widget cartridges are the same in the bottles and cans so
you get a little better carbonation ratio with the bottle... I pour both into pint glasses.

You'd think cans would be cheaper to produce and would cost less.

I like the cans better, not really sure why though. Normally for bears I like bottles a lot better, even its poured into a pint glass.

Costco has a great deal on the Draught cans btw, comes out to about a buck a can.

Decent deal too, usually my local super has the 4 pack of cans for that price, not sure why you would get the 8 pack, if the you can get 2 6 packs for the same price.

I remembered hearing something about it dealing with the fact that it has a device inside it that gives it nitrogen. That way it tastes like it's from the tap, because the tap contains a mix of nitrogen and cO2.

.Edit.

Found the website with the info on it. Guiness

Well fine smartypants 😛

I've never had Guinness in a can to confirm that it's better than in a bottle, but I remember reading somewhere that the beer in the can is actually brewed by St. James Gate Brewery while the beer in the bottle is brewed by I think Molson, in Canada. Like I said, though, I've never had Guinness from a can, but that may be why a lot of people think it's better from the can. Might also explain why the cans are more expensive than the bottles.

anyone who even thinks they are drinking good beer when they drink Guinness in the bottles/cans sold in the states really doesn't have tastebuds.

sorry.

taste the real deal Guinness in Ireland and you'll agree.

because it sucks in the bottles
